Android 4.4 on Nexus 4: several bugs crop up - International Business Times Italy

The release of Android 4.4 for Nexus KitKat 4 was eagerly awaited by all users having the “big brother” of the Nexus 5, but the arrival of the new version of the open source operating system for mobile devices weblog Google has so far been characterized also by the unpleasant discovery of some bugs, such as problems with the Home button or by choosing the app to open or share a specific content.

These bugs are not, however, been observed on all devices, and even on smartphones that bring these issues bugs do not jump out at every use. As has been pointed out so far, the problems seem to affect those users who have upgraded from the final version of Jelly Bean (JWR66Y) to the latest build of KitKat (KRT16S) via OTA. It seems that they are free from bugs smartphones that have been upgraded from build KRT16O installed by factory image.

More specifically, problems concern the Home button does not work properly , as well as the quick settings in the notification bar, and the microphone that works in fits and starts. Also, just in the last hour, it was also found another strange problem with the settings.

When you choose to open or share a specific content, Android shows all the applications with which you can perform the operation. But the next time it will be done the same thing, the system will take place with the same app , although this was not selected as the default.

The bad news (not that those were good before) is that, at least at the moment, the only solution to fix the situation seems to be to perform a reset to factory settings (factory reset). In case you have reported problems and would like to restore, remember that you will delete the app and the data saved locally, so it is certainly advisable to make a backup before performing the operation.

In general, these problems are not terrible, but that worsen the user experience. To these must be added the fact, however, definitely, that is displeasing to many users, the waiver of the Flash Player . For some time it was no longer possible to download it from the Play Store, but it was still possible to install it manually by downloading the APK from the Adobe website. In Android 4.4 Google KitKat , however, has completely removed the compatibility, and is therefore no longer possible to use it with third-party browsers.
