Sony Xperia Z: Review by Nexus-Lab

Ok, almost all the characters in the beginning of 2013 have come out or will do in a few days. Now is the time to decide whether to buy a new smartphone and which one to choose from the wide range of terminals on offer on the market.

Sony was one of the first to come out this year, offering a device that cuts slightly with the past, because of its design completely revised and analyze, together with many other points, in the following review.

PACK – [VOTE 7]

The package is very small, and it hides the usual handbooks and quick, the good in ear headphones with rubber of various sizes , and a USB cable with microUSB shared with the charger.

DESIGN – [VOTE 8]

Xperia Z has a structure very square and minimal, characterized by the predominance of glass in all its parts. Glass which we found very strong.

Its dimensions are 139 x 71 x 7.9 mm thick . Its lines are very clear and almost sharp, while the minimalist style of the phone is slightly affected by the presence of a huge button lock / release device on the right side.

As the smartphone Waterproof , all connectors are covered by plastic flaps, useful not to infiltrate the water, but awkward to have to remove and replace each time.

HARDWARE – [VOTE 8.5]

  • CPU Qualcomm APQ8064 1.5 GHz Quad Core
  • RAM 2 GB
  • DISPLAY 5-inch FullHD TFT
  • MEMORY 16 GB expandable
Into The Sony Xperia Z has a hardware-of-Class, while not using the Snapdragon SoC 600 but the previous generation always Qualcomm, recording performance case, however, helped from 2 GB of RAM.

Into The display is one of the first FullHD so small, has excellent color and detail above average, although it has a fairly low viewing angle and blacks leave much to be desired. The basic internal memory is 16 GB, however expandable with the usual microSD, up to a maximum of 32 other GB.

SOFTWARE – [VOTE 8.3]

Android comes up with the sa version 4.1.2, but in the future will be released Android 4.2 and hopefully Android Key Lime Pie.

The UI is an evolution of the one on the models from previous years, with many pre-installed applications, which are useful for many purposes, such as Shazam custom Sony or the function of full backup.

Twitter and Facebook are integrated into the operating system, and the interface can be customized with themes that will also change the original unlock screen.

The presence of Playstation Mobile unfortunately not much enriched the quality of the gaming device, while the gallery dedicated to videos and images, has been replaced with an owner.

The phone secondhand fluid in almost all situations, even with many open App. Sailing with the Chrome browser (the default browser of the system) are not noticed slowdowns, indeed everything is very fluid.

QUALITY: AUDIO [VOTE 7 .. 5] – CALLS [VOTE 6.5] – SIGNAL [VOTE 6]

The loudspeaker system is placed in the lower part on the right profile of the phone. The sound it produces is clean and deep though unfortunately quite low. Instead the signal is very weak and is not the best, but when we went in isolated areas than we had reception problems.

From earpiece during phone calls, we hear our party perfectly, as he hears us quite low.

CAMERA / CAMCORDER – [VOTE 9]

Sony has always does a great job in the multimedia component of its devices. Even with this Xperia Z does not disappoint with a 13.1-megapixel sensor, which will take very good photos of excellent workmanship. The LED flash but glows a bit ‘low, insufficient in certain situations.

The same is true for the video, in fullHD perfect and no drops in frame rate.

AUTONOMY – [VOTE 8]

Despite having a very generous display with a pixel density above average, the 2370 mAh battery will be able to bring quite easily in the evening, even if with a very intense use, you’ll probably leave a few minutes before dinner.

FINAL COMMENT – [VOTE MEDIA 8]

Xperia Z hits but not surprising. Sony did a great job in almost all departments, even if it is slipped on some aspect avoidable, as the release button / lock and display still not perfect.

The advantage of this device, however, than their opponents, is also constituted by the price, in fact the first to be released on the market led to a devaluation in advance which should be taken into account completely.
