We tried many smartphones during 2013. We have analyzed big news, as the Touch ID iPhone 5s, and new devices giant, like the Nokia Lumia 1520. This 2014 but we want to start, at least for the reviews, with a device that has caused a lot of stir, not so much for what it offers but for its price. We are talking about the new Nexus 5 Google . This smartphone, product once again by LG offers features nothing short of extraordinary, especially when compared to its purchase price. This device is in fact sold at only € 349 in the basic version with 16 GB of internal memory , € 399 if you switch to the 32 GB version . Yes, you read that right. Only € 349 for a fantastic device under the hardware point of view, but also aesthetic in my opinion. Let’s start with the latter, the design.
Design
Google Nexus 5 is the best evolution of a Nexus device so far appeared on the market. Minimal but elegant, devoid of buttons and large display. The combination of these features make the Nexus 5 a really good smartphone in aesthetic terms. Personally I liked from the first image leaked. Unfortunately, the plastic still predominates, although it is quite stiff, but to offer it to 349 € Google (and LG) could not use aluminum.
thickness has been reduced to a minimum, or 8.59 mm. It is 13.7 cm high, 6.9 cm wide and weighing only 130 grams, thanks to its own plastic bag.
Hardware
Nexus 5 is amazing also in terms of hardware. It has the best processor currently available, or one 800 quad-core Snapdragon 2.3 GHz , accompanied by well- 2 GB of RAM . This coupled smartphone makes official Google snappy, responsive and never subject to lag. Display
display 5 is the Nexus 4.95 inch , which has an incredible resolution equal to 1920 × 1080 pixels . This resolution allows it to reach the 445 PPI (pixels per inch). An incredible resolution for a device that you remember is on sale for only 349 € (basic model). The only feature that I did not fully appreciate that covers the display calibration. The whites seem to be too yellowish.
Android 4.4 KitKat
Speaking of the Nexus 5 I can not devote a chapter of this review to the new operating system Android 4.4 KitKat . Wonderful in every way, thanks to the many new graphics introduced by Google. The new transparency and various shades make this open source operating system finally more pleasant to use, on which a developer can finally think of realizing an application worthy of being definitive such, at least as regards the appearance and feel. I’ve tried lots of Android devices, with custom UI or not, but I had never found a suitable interface to my aesthetic tastes. This Android 4.4 KitKat has really reached perfection in this sense, at least for me.
Regarding optimization targeted performance, well thanks to the hardware features of this operating system runs perfectly on Nexus 5.
Multimedia
Google has seen fit to enter into this new Nexus smartphone a good, but not excellent, 8-megapixel rear camera with optical stabilizer . Recorded video in 1080p resolution, even in slow motion. The front camera is only 1.3 megapixels instead. Here you will find a full-resolution photos taken with this Nexus 5. Low / medium quality speakers, the center of several controversies but certainly not worthy of the least votes in the report card. Let’s say you are more than decent for a smartphone.

The Nexus 5 is pretty much gone like hot cakes since its first appearance on the market. Only recently the availability on the Google Play Store is back acceptable, ie outbound shipment 5-7 days after purchase.
