Ubuntu Touch: Will be Supported Only On 4 Nexus and Nexus 7 2013 - ZioGeek

We recently got to try here in drafting the new Ubuntu Touch that the team at Canonical has released for the Nexus range of Google . The operating system, although quite functional in all those functions that are “base” of a smartphone, still has a long way to go and definitely some progress it will be seen only in the months to follow.

Stop At Support For All Nexus

In a recent note, Canonical and his team have decided to give a cut to the development of Ubuntu on Touch devices in the Nexus range: This does not mean, however, that the development will not be continued, but that will be dedicated solely to Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 2013 . Stop the substrate, therefore, of all remaining devices such as the Nexus 10 Nexus 7 and Galaxy Nexus.

The decision, therefore, provides for future updates for only the former flagship Nexus 4 and the current Nexus 7 2013: After January, the other devices will continue to be compatible with Ubuntu Touch but will no longer receive update and bug fixes. In addition Canonical argues that the development of the OS will not start even on Nexus 5, since the costs of planning are extremely high. We just have to wait, then, further changes and improvements especially for this operating system.
