Google, the Nexus TV will arrive in the next 2014? - Macity

According to the latest information the new Nexus Google TV will come next, 2014, with new features to an aggressive price.

According to the head of The Information, Google would be working on a device “TV Nexus” equipped with Android, which will allow users to get video streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu and YouTube, and to play a specific selection of video games. The news comes from the journalist Amir Efrati, citing an anonymous source as a Google employee, according to which the device would be ready for launch in the first half of next year, with a price defined as “aggressive.”

Rumors of a new Google TV have appeared last July, when the Wall Street Journal reported that a demonstration of a closed door which would be starring Andy Rubin at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. According to sources, the device included a motion sensor as used by the Kinect, and allow control via an Android smartphone. The latest rumors corroborate the information (even if a motion sensor is not mentioned), and adds that it could be also a touchpad remote, specially built for the Nexus TV remote control.

It also says that the device would not support the live broadcast which would mean that Google could avoid the hassle of having to worry about getting the traditional content providers to join the project, a task that has so far proved very difficult for other companies, Google might want to focus as much as possible on exclusive content, as well as Amazon is trying to do to avoid agreements with other suppliers.

Until now Google has never had much luck with the broadcasting services: the Google TV has been a flop and probably will be soon abandoned and the Nexus Q has never seen the light from the commercial point of view, the Chromecast had some success but at the moment is very limited in its potential. We’ll see if the TV Nexus will have better luck.
